Let’s talk about ice cream, shall we?
Because I’m all about cooling off during these hot summer months with a delicious, frozen treat that’s free of the Big 8 Food Allergens.
Enter these adorable little bites, yes I said ‘bites’. I recently discovered these cute little ice cream bites (small ice cream balls) in my local food store. They were too cute to pass up and I wanted to create a fun ice cream sundae for you since they were free of all the allergens that I avoid. Welcome in Perfectly Free™ – the cutest frozen treat you will taste this summer.
I know so many of you struggle to find the right balance and maintaining healthy habits- I also know you want to pass on healthy messages to your family, which is why I was so excited to show off these bites today. It’s a treat that actually tastes good while being free from major food allergens. No, it’s not a diet food (even though it’s low calorie)- because I don’t believe in counting calories or dieting, which is why I’m giddy over these treats that are guilt-free and delish. Trust me, I thought it was too good to be true until I had some myself and then served it to my family at the shore, who enjoyed and gobbled up every bite, as well.
So let’s talk about why I’m sharing Perfectly Free™ with you today and how you can incorporate this healthy treat into your lifestyle (and your kids lifestyle too) without feeling bad about serving up a box of ice cream that’s full of chemicals and ingredients you don’t want in your body. I’m all about balance in my life- I could sit and eat almond butter and zucchini all day long but I’d get bored and my body needs a little pizzazz every once in a while. Plus, I know what it’s like to feel isolated from everyone else who is eating indulgent food at a BBQ or picnic while I sit there and nibble on kale and walnuts. Not fun. At all. So, along with sharing a lovely ice cream sundae with you today, I wanted to bring up something that I’ve been wanting to chat with you about for a while now.
Life isn’t just about having the perfect diet or being ‘good’ all the time. There is no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ – terms we were all brought up with in relation to food! I recall hearing adults saying ‘I have to be good- I can’t eat that’ or ‘I am so bad for eating that’. Honestly, I’ve never said that or had guilt over anything because I want to enjoy my life. If you’re counting every calorie and speckle of fun and not allowing yourself to feel free- you’re doing more harm than good for your beautiful body.
Life’s about enjoying yourself. Now, I’m not telling you to go out and eat a bag of chips and chocolate bars all day. But I am telling you that life’s too short to not enjoy yourself. Food is a form of connection with each other, so why not start learning how to enjoy ourselves with foods that are clean and free of the allergens (that we can’t eat) so we can live life to the fullest?
You can indulge in my yummy Perfectly Free™ sundae and feel good about every bite. The best part? You won’t end up with a belly ache or other terrible symptoms when you’re done. Now, that for me is a win-win situation. I don’t know about you but when I finish eating something and I look down at my stomach and I’m not bloated or doubled over in pain- I’m happy as a clam!
Aren’t you?
When I find a product that I can indulge in without the stress of major allergens (that can be served to kids and parents alike–as well as those of us who are health conscious)- I know I’ve hit the jack pot. I found these adorable bites when I was visiting my family at the shore in NJ and we purchased two flavors: the Blueberry & Vanilla Bites and Salted Caramel & Vanilla Bites. I honestly had no idea what to expect when I opened the box but from the look on the outside it looked like cute balls of ice cream with only 25-35 calories per serving. I was quick to look at the ingredient list to make sure they were clean enough for me to eat AND serve to my family. When they passed my test, I tossed them in my shopping basket and zipped on home to tear them open like Christmas. (If you have food allergies/sensitivities like myself- you know the feeling of actually being able to eat something ‘normal’. It’s a feeling I can’t explain in words. It’s magical. It’s freeing. It’s happy. It’s like vacation. It’s bliss.) Ahhhhhhhh.
And so, as I opened the boxes, I found 8 cute, little balls of fun inside that I popped into my mouth. There are so many things that make this frozen treat stand apart from any other ice creams that I’ve tasted before. There’s a soft outer layer and a coconut cream center that’s so fun and delightful to bite into. They’re easy to serve without a mess and they’re portion controlled, so you don’t end up eating an entire pint of ice cream- you simply pop a bite into your mouth and you’re good to go.
Here are the flavors that I found in my food store below. I opted for the Caramel and Blueberry, as I mentioned but the Cherry and Cocoa are on our list to try soon!
When I was asked by Perfectly Free™ to create some unique tips for using these adorable bites, I wanted to share them all with you-plus a yummy recipe below. These are a fun summer treat that you can enjoy without having to get out your ice cream scooper. That’s right! No mess involved here. You can pop these bites into a bowl and serve them to kids and adults. You can top them with coconut milk yogurt and your favorite toppings such as sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, cashews, almonds and walnuts (if you can do nuts). They’d also make a lovely entertaining treat if you slice them in half and serve them on a platter with tiny toothpicks. This way everyone can taste all the flavor options. Ready to dig into these babies? I thought so. You can use this store locator to head on out to your local grocery store and purchase a few of the Perfectly Free™ products!
Enjoy and have a fabulous day!
