You asked for it.
So many of you have been asking for my favorite organic underwear brands and today’s the day I’m sharing them all with you.
And don’t worry- I have you covered. If you need matching organic bras to go with your new organic undies, check out my organic bra selection that I featured recently, as well. I spoke about the toxic chemicals that are lurking in our bras, underwear and other clothing that we wear everyday. Chemicals like VOCs, chlorine bleach, heavy metals, flame retardants, ammonia, formaldehyde, and so much more. Gross, gross, gross, right?
So, why should we be wearing organic panties?
Let me count the ways.
First of all, as I go into great detail about in my book, Eating Clean, your skin is your LARGEST organ. Yes, your largest organ. Something I had no idea about until I went through my 10 years of chronic illness. We are bombarded by enough toxins in our environment so why not clean up the toxins you expose to your skin on a daily basis? Your underwear touches the most sensitive parts of your body, so why would you treat them with chemical-laden fabric?
Cotton, which most underwear are made from are bleached, dyed, fireproofed, and even include wrinkle proofing. The chemicals from these processes touch your skin and they can irritate your skin as well as cause bacteria to grow and cause yeast infections (hello Candida).
On the other hand, organic cotton is a much healthier choice because it prevents bacteria and yeast growth because it allows air to flow through. And as we all know, when air is stagnant down there, things start to grow- such as candida, yeast and non-beneficial bacteria.
That all sounds awful, I know. Wasn’t my intention to go that deep but heck, I need to share what I know with all of you. So, the next time you put on your non-organic underwear, ask yourself if you’d feel better having something organic touching your most sensitive parts (and while I’m on the topic, I use Seventh Generation Tampons and Seventh Generation Pads when I have my period because non-organic feminine care products are full of chemicals and toxins and I know you don’t want any of that down under, do you?)
