Happy August. I hope everyone had a lovely first week of August. I spent the last week developing over 40 recipes, including these popsicles… oy!
I’m excited to announce that I’m writing for the Food Network along with a few nationwide magazines… so I’ve been busy in my kitchen and photography studio developing recipes, food styling and takin’ pictures.
And even thought we had a few rainy days this week – the sunshine is out today and the weekend looks like a beauty.
So, I thought I’d whip up a batch of my extra special n’ naturally sweet Strawberry Basil Green Tea Popsicles.
They’re not like any you’ve ever had before.
I’ve been trying for years to make a healthy, good tasting popsicle…
And I think I’ve finally created it.
They’re quite refreshing. Especially on a sweltering hot August day in Manhattan.
People, I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I’m not the gal with the sugary sweet recipes everyone is always asking me for. I’m not the type of girl who can make these popsicles with a white tee shirt on because I’ll have popsicle juice dripping down the front.
I’m not the type of gal that works at VOGUE or Ralph Lauren or wears Gucci shoes everyday. Nope. Been there; done that.
If only my old bosses from VOGUE and Ralph Lauren could see me now – they’d think, “Oh, the horror of spending your day in the kitchen in a dirty apron”. They’ll never get it.
I’m not the type of gal who’s out at bars meeting rich, banker men. Hehe.
I’m not your typical Manhattan gal. (Well minus the whole clothes thing – I do have to store my clothes in my oven – welcome to a Manhattan apartment. Hey – a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right? Too many sample sales to not be tempted to treat myself once in a blue moon.)
I’m more the type to make a cup of tea and meet some friends in the park for a picnic. I’m the kind of gal who goes for a walk along the water every morning to meditate.
I’m the lil’ blonde who spends her days running around Manhattan as a personal chef to some fabulous people. Cookin’ for them, teachin’ them and preppin’ yummy fresh food for their week.
In a nutshell.
Now, onto my sweet lil’ pretty in pink popsicles. Listen up, kids: these babies are ten times better than those treats from the ice cream truck circling your block. They’re the easiest pops you’ll ever make. That’s right. Just five ingredients and you’re all set. Well, along with the help of your freezer, of course. Since these babies will start to melt when you take ’em out of the freezer – it’s best to eat ’em up right away and start lickin’. Somehow I don’t think that’ll be a problem for ya.
If you’re a lifelong strawberry lover like my momma, you will adore these summery popsicles as a mid-day snack or an evening treat.
O and I should warn ya. After pouring this pretty pink mixture into the popsicle molds, I had a little spoonful for myself. And it could quite possibly be the world’s best non-alcoholic treat you’ll ever get your hands on. One lick and you’ll get that whole ridiculously sweet fruit flavor you loved as a kid.
Because what’s summer without popsicles?
Here’s to bringin’ back the good ol’ days when we were kids and summer was just a bundle of carefree days of sunshine!
Amen to that.
