Nuts help build the body and have a grounding effect. Nuts are rich in nutrients and minerals such as Selenium and Vitamin E, as well as a great source of high-quality fatty acids.
I tend to keep all of my nuts in the freezer, which I feel keeps them fresh and tasty.
I love the fullness that Nuts and Nut Butters give my body….whether it’s a few handfuls of nuts as a mid-day snack or a nice nut butter spread on my crackers/toast/ in my oatmeal…it always seems to add the perfect touch and leave me pleasantly satisfied…
During these winter months I love using nuts and nut butters…I often roast nuts in my oven as well as cook chicken dishes using nut butters….simply add 2-3 Tbsp.’s of your favorite nut butter to a chicken/pork/tofu dish while it is on the stove so that your mixture will get warm and smooth and will easily coat the chicken like a marinade. I like to add the nut butter, balsamic vinegar, chili powder, and cinnamon in a small bowl…stir until mixed completely and pour into hot skillet with cooked chicken….cook for another few minutes until your chicken/port/tofu is completely coated…then add sesame seeds and/or fresh basil…
This dish is delish and if you are in need of a warm, tasty meal – I suggest purchasing some nut butters…there is a vast array in local health food stores as well as your local food stores…experiment with a few different flavors and get creative! Everything from a nut butter sandwich to savory salmon in the oven with a nut butter sauce…mmm…if your mouth isn’t watering yet…it will by the time the oven timer is up!
Enjoy!
