Oil pulling is an amazing way to detox and rejuvenate your body. It’s a small practice but has remarkable results. I learned about this practice through my Integrative Medicine Doctor.

It’s quite simple: All you need to do is use organic coconut oil (I use Barlean’s Organic Coconut Oil) and swish the oil in my mouth just like how you would use mouthwash. You swish the oil in your mouth for 10-15 minutes and then spit it out in the garbage. This process removes toxins, parasites and bacteria that live in your mouth and lymph system. Oil pulling also pulls mucus from your throat and loosens up your sinuses, which helps me tremendously with allergies. I’ve also learned that oil pulling re-mineralizing your teeth and strengthening your gums by cleaning your mouth.

Some oil pullers use sesame oil but I like to use the coconut oil because of its anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and enzymatic properties which kill off any bacteria that may be lingering in your mouth.

Start with 1 Tbsp. of oil in your mouth and swish and pull between your teeth and around your gums. Do not swallow it; just push and pull. My teeth are no longer sensitive because of oil pulling and I’ve found tremendous results from doing this every morning. The best time to do this is in the morning before you drink or eat anything.

Enjoy!

  1. I have suffered with oral thrush for a good year since wearing a mask for covid. Dr has given me everything from nystatin, mic touché, difflucin and nothing has helped. Will coconut oil help?

  2. Hi,
I was reading your article and found it interesting.
I have been suffering Candida for more than a year now and very upset at this stage as few doctors gave me two different diagnoses.
One is Burning mouth symptom and another is Candida with Glossitis (what would be some mouth /tongue infection).
I am 25 weeks pregnant now what make things even worse and I am sick of using Daktarin gels and all those mouthwashes .
I searched on internet and found this oil coconut pulling .
My question is whether is this coconut oil pulling safe in pregnancy and is there anything else you would recommend?
I bought coconut oil in Boots but I am not sure if that ‘s the best one. What about clove oil in pregnancy as I heard that is one of the best antiseptics?
Hope you will answer soon. Please answer to my e-mail address.
    Many thanks

    1. Hi Tatjana! Thank you for reaching out. Oil pulling with coconut oil should be fine while you are pregnant, but you should with your integrative MD before starting any new protocols. You can reach out to us at hello@amievalpone.com if you have any questions.

  4. On the oil pulling do you use food grade coconut oil ? And how do I know which oregano or peppermint/spearmint oils?

    1. Hi Tonya – yes, we use virgin coconut oil like Barlean’s. You can use sesame oil if you prefer but we recommend only using coconut.

  5. You swish the oil in your mouth for 10-15 minutes? is it minutes or seconds?, I’m asking cause 15 minutes is a lot!, I got tired by swishing the oil… thanks!

  6. Hi Amy, I’m a long suffering candida patient that his largely just covered up my symptoms over the years. I have been having to use Nystatin on my lips now for a year, any recommendations to help correct this?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Kept rubbing her nose the moved back when I talked .She might as well have came out and said “Hey Your breath stinks “.She made me feel so low .I told her that I had a white tounge and she said it is thrush and she said it’s very thick .Well it’s not thick at all you can barely notice it it’s very different looking than the picturesof thrush on Google .I do have a slightly white tounge tho .Any suggestions would be great thanks
