2017 new years resolutions

Well it’s 2017 and by golly I’m excited for a new year. Aren’t you?

If not, take a little break from life, slow your booty down a bit and ask yourself why.

Think about it. Get quiet with yourself and sit in stillness instead of just tossing your feelings aside without having the guts to look at them. I know this sounds crazy but it’s super helpful. I don’t think I learned how to sit with my feelings and get quiet until I was 30 and it’s taken me almost 4 years since then to learn how to look at my ‘stuff’….you know, the stuff that bothers you, the stories you tell yourself everyday (like you’re not good enough, smart enough, etc etc etc). Yes, those stories.

When I started to get quiet and look at everything I was playing in my mind the last 33.99999 years (hehe my birthday is soon), I realized that we have to make a decision to wake ourselves up if we want to see lasting change in our lives. And that’s something you can do right now. Yes, you can make the decision now. There’s a line from Anais Nin that says “…the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” O boy can I relate to this! On SO many levels. I can recall feeling stuck in being ‘sick’ and being scared to be ‘healthy’ because I didn’t know how to be healthy and how to live as a healthy person. My identity was as a sick person- or so I thought. But I soon realized this was a story that I was just telling myself and that I could easily re-wire my thoughts to pull myself out of the ‘illness’ category and into the ‘wellness’ section of this thing called life. They say life starts where your comfort zone ends. Well, I don’t know who ‘they’ are but they’re right. As soon as I started to act and feel and believe I could be healthy and ‘normal’, my body and my mind started to shift. If you want to thrive, you’ve gotta get yourself in the mindset of thriving, which means taking yourself out of the victim mentality and stop blaming everyone else for what’s going on with you. It means stop talking about everything that’s not working out for you and not going your way and instead shift your perception to think about and talk about and engage in conversations that are positive and focused on wellness and you feeling better and being happy and loving your life.

My journey was a process. It was not done overnight or in a year or two years. It took time. It took a lot of getting quiet with myself, figuring out who I was and how I was going to take charge of my life and turn my life around and most importantly it allowed me to realize that non of the things I had already tried were working- focusing on the problem at hand, crying to my mother, calling my aunt to tell her how much pain I was in, inviting my sister over to walk her through my terrible protocols, etc. I gave myself space, took time off to be alone and got real about my healing and what was blocking me from truly feeling like Amie Valpone in perfect health. It wasn’t easy. It was messy- as most journeys are– but I wouldn’t change a thing because I learned something every step of the way and now I have the pleasure of sharing it all with you in my books and speaking and programs and more.

In an attempt to help you get over the wellness hump to where you want to be in life- healthy, happy, eating more foods, living pain-free, having more energy, loosing excess weight, etc., I want to encourage you to have an open mind. If you want to heal, you’ve GOTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAA have an open mind. Supplements and doctors can only get you so far. Your doctor doesn’t go home with you, as I mentioned in my book, therefore YOU have got to figure out why you’re not getting better. Forget them. They can help you with your blood work and testing. You can detox your home, your cleaning supplies and food (MORE ON THIS IN MY BOOK) from chemicals and GMO’s but there is more beyond those lines. Much, much more. So much more that if I learned this 10 years ago I’d like to think I could have healed within a year. For real. You’ve gotten to the place in your life where you are right now by doing whatever it is that you’re doing (eating clean, living clean, reducing stress, etc) and if you’re not getting to the next level or seeing improvement in your blood work or the way you feel, you need to dive a little deeper and that’s what I’m here to help you with this year.

This is the year of thriving.

Yes, it’s 2017 and you will all be thriving this year. Tell yourself that.

OUT LOUD.

Again.

And again.

Tell yourself that again.

Got it?

YOU will thrive this year.

If you want a life you’ve never lived (aka–feeling healthy and whole), well then folks, you’ve got to do things you’ve never done before. This is what I did the last three years and it’s brought me to perfect health and peace and beauty in my life. You can get here too- there is enough goodness out there in the world for everyone to feel good and you deserve it. That’s right. YOU deserve it.

Tell yourself that again.

One of my healers told me that on our call each month, that I deserved to have what I wanted in life and I chose health and happiness. For so many years I didn’t think I was worthy of health and happiness and abundance and a beautiful life. Who was I to receive that? Well, who was I NOT? We all deserve to live a healthy life beyond our wildest dreams. That’s what life is all about. That’s not something you should feel guilty or superior about. We live in a world of limitless possibilities and you see and hear stories like this every day. You know it’s true but you forgot this. You knew this as a kid when you ran around playing make believe and having fun all day long, didn’t you? You did! But ya see, somewhere along the lines we were bombarded by fear from our parents and teachers and friends and everyone else in the world. That’s when we started to crumble and some of us crumbled more than others. I for one, crumbled on the inside with my health- but I was still a powerful successful woman on the outside until my health took over my outside, as well.

So, as you start this new year…you might feel like your life is zooming by and you have yet to start living it the way you want to, the way that has true meaning for you. This is how so many of my clients feel.

It doesn’t have to feel like that forever. You can start making changes today.

So, roll up your sleeves, take some risks and shift the outlook on your life this year to be THRIVING. Toss any of your disbelief’s aside- they’re not worth your time- they’re not worth your health. You’re too good for them. Move on- they’re not your story anymore and you’re no longer a victim to them.

Move on, get up, change the way you think, change the way you wake up in the morning…change the way you go to bed at night and all the thoughts you think throughout the day in between you waking up and falling asleep.

You’ll wake up this time next year in 2018 realizing you’re living the life that you dreamed of after you read this post.

Happy New Year from my home to yours.

Feel it. Know it. Trust it. Go for it. I know you can make 2017 your best year yet. You deserve it.
