If you’ve read my best-selling book, Eating Clean, you know I address gut health in great detail because almost 70% of our immune system is located in your gut. Now, that is a heck of a LOT of the immune system shoved into a tiny space, isn’t it? When I was on rounds of antibiotics as a child, the Western MD’s told me NOT to take probiotics. Well, that left me with c-diff colitis and years of a depleted immune system and a gut that was absolutely a complete mess.

Almost all supplements of glutathione are big and bulky and appear to degrade when taken orally. Trust me, I tried taking the majority of them and they’re awful and most of them don’t easily penetrate your cells, which I discuss in this Instagram story about glutathione) and they don’t get into the mitochondria to help you which is why ‘cooking it up’ inside your cells is critical to producing healthy amounts of glutathione.

However, less really is more! And the most important thing to learn is HOW to organize yourself for healing and what to do first, second, third, etc. in a cohesive order instead of piling everything on at once, which many people think is the name of the game.

Well, I’m here to tell you it’s not. The name of the game to healing yourself and to healing your gut is surrounding yourself with like-minded people who have been through the experience themselves and who have healed themselves. I cannot express how important this is and how much these people will help you. 

I’ve mentioned this numerous times before but the two people who helped me the most were two women in NYC who helped heal their children from severe chronic health issues and they taught me so much and offered suggestions and helped me steer my ship in the beginning. Without them, I wouldn’t have known what to do. That’s why it’s so important to start to branch out of your Western medicine model and start to find communities of people who are interested in alternative medicine practices and energy work because those are the highly conscious people who get it and who will want to help you because they’ve figured it out!

Trust me on this. You need a team and that does not just include your doctor. That includes other people who have been through it and can help you get out of it and give you suggestions and tools and ideas for trying something new because it’s likely that the old way of how you’re getting treatment is no longer working.

Let’s talk about three simple steps you can take today that will help you get closer to your goals with your health and yes, you guessed it, it starts with the gut!

3 STEPS to GUT HEALTH

Now, even though there are no three simple ways to heal your gut, I want to break down my top three ways that I believe will help get you to the next level of healing that you need. Healing your gut takes time but these steps will help you shortcut your journey. I’ve outlined these steps for you below. STEP ONE // REMOVE INFLAMMATORY FOODS.

Inflammation is a hot topic these days and I truly believe people are starting to catch on to what’s really going on in our food system and how many companies are pumping in cheap, inflammatory ingredients into their products and labeling them as healthy because they’re lower in fat or calories. This is so sad and it is leading to obesity and so many different forms of chronic health issues in children and adults. Start by eating WHOLE, ONE-INGREDIENT FOODS…so, what’s in an avocado? An avocado. What’s in an apple? An apple.
