You guys know I love tea. And I love lemon in tea, too.

And since you’ve been with me throughout my detox period ridding the heavy metals from my body the last few years, I thought I’d share with you one of my favorite beverages that’s always refreshing and quite tasty.

I created this tea detox recipe a few weeks ago on a Friday night in my Manhattan apartment.

I had just been told that I had to cut out sugar from my lifestyle.

And I almost lost my mind.

I had Candida and it wasn’t fun. So, just like anyone else that is in excruciating pain- you do what you’ve gotta do to heal and help your body get better asap.

So, I purchased a few bottles of purified spring water. A few different herbal and green teas.

A bottle of organic apple cider vinegar.

Liquid stevia.

Fresh, organic cilantro and a whole ‘lotta fresh, organic lemons.

Yep, that’s all you’ll need.

I love tea but I’ve never written about it on my blog, which is kinda sorta crazy since I drink about 10 cups a day.

Don’t look at me like that. I know you like tea, too.

Or some sort of beverage that you drink 10 times a day. (I really hope it’s not soda)… Please tell me it’s not soda.

This is totally a summer beverage your whole family will be loving. Or maybe just you.

As for me, I’m heading downtown to the West Village to soak up the sunshine and read a new book. Of course, I’ve packed two water bottles with this tea to enjoy all afternoon.

Store-bought teas just aren’t the same.

Believe me. You’ll love it.

Here’s to cooling off the heat wave wherever you are this week.

    1. There isn’t cilantro in this recipe Meredith but I add it into this tea and use 2 Tbsp. of chopped organic cilantro!

  1. On the subject of drinks….any thoughts on the sobe lifewaters or the vitamin water zeros that are sweetened with stevia??

    1. Thanks Heather; I haven’t tried Sobe waters but the vitamin waters I know are filled with a bunch of additives so they may bother people’s stomachs, etc. as the ingredient list is pretty long. Hope that helps!!

  2. 5 stars
thank you for posting this, i hate plain water so this will definately be great

  3. Wow this sounds delicious! I LOVE tea (and drink A LOT of it), but I’ve never tried white tea. Will certainly try now πŸ˜€

  4. I especially love iced tea that is fresh and chemical free. What intrigues me about this is that you are using it as part of a detox for candida. This is something I have struggled with for a long time. I am always looking for new (natural) methods to control it. Also, I just went off “the pill” and the sooner I can get my body back to it’s normal hormonal levels, the better. Hopefully, this tea will help in my cleansing efforts w/ that too! Thanks so much!

  5. I drink a lot each day, and even more this month since my husband and I have been trying to eat (and drink) cleaner this month, thanks to your challenge. And Amie, I promise we have not been drinking soda. πŸ™‚ We have been drinking lots of water. I think I will give this a try. Something different with flavor will be nice for a change. Thanks for sharing! And I do believe this tea would go great with the Sahale Snacks!!

  6. This looks like a nice summer drink. Everybody is talking about adding fruits and herbs to their water, but I keep forgetting to try it.

  7. Fantastic — I’m making this *tonight*! Sounds like the perfect refreshment to pair with Sahale Snacks. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for sharing, Amie!

thanks for this recipe, I never thought of adding apple cider vinegar to drinks (I’ve been drinking it by the tablespoon to battle my candida)

I hope I will the Sahale Snacks!!!

  9. I never thought of putting apple cider vinegar in tea. My husband is supposed to drink it before each meal but usually forgets. This would make it much easier as pretty much all we drink is tea, water and wine.

  10. Great Recipe! I usually always have these ingredients on hand so I am looking forward to making up a batch of this tea. I’ve tried to cut out any processed food and refined sugar so this will be a nice change up from all the water.

  11. This tea sounds fantastic! I drink apple cider vinegar in the morning with a little maple syrup, but this would be a wonderful way to reap the benefits all day long!

  12. White tea? Huh, never heard of it. I always have green tea on hand. Is there much difference as far as taste goes?

  13. Have you read this article about tennis star Novak Djokovic’s experiences with integrative medicine and the success of his gf eating?
I hope the publicity surrounding his book and his tennis improvement focuses not on the “out there-ness” but rather on the growing use and acceptance of holistic treatment. Unfortunately, the growing awareness of gluten intolerance has resulted the perception of gf as just a diet trend — maybe you could take a poll on the number of celiacs whose traditional drs. have misdiagnose/accused them of eating disorders…? But now that a male — bonus points for being a professional athlete and straight — is “coming out” about eating gluten free, will the rest of us get some respect (although the words “Jeremy Piven” are stil a curse…)?

Wow, this really looks delicious! I love tea but have not tried white tea yet so this is definitely peaking my interest. πŸ™‚ Thanks so much Amie for posting all these delicious recipes!

  15. I think this is one superb recipe for preparing green tea. Nice one. … the great taste can make me drink herbal teas.….

  16. I normally drink ACV, honey and water, but this is good variation, and I love tea! Only change is I will use local honey instead of stevia.

  17. Reminds me of switchel, an old time hydrating beverage used by New England farmers when they’re haying.

  18. 4 stars
I was buying Barlean’s and it has slipped my mind! Wonderful product to get in those needed Omeaga’s. Hope I’m the winner. You have such nutritional give a ways!

  19. Loving all your healthy information on Facebook! Hppy to have found your website too! Cheers to health, healing, lemons and Omegas! πŸ˜‰ Crossing my fingers and toes for your contest too!
    Peace πŸ™‚

Funny, Bragg’s makes a similar drink that I sometimes buy, Kavita does too…. But so much better when it’s homemade! I’m going to try this, seems simple enough!

  21. Hmmm or maybe I was confused because I thought it was a recipe for the whole pitcher and it is just for a serving?

  22. Do you boil the water first & then cool it after or does your white tea not need any boiling water? (The only white tea I could find was with ginger in it too…)
I’m making the switch to cleaner eating / drinking (I already had celiac & just found out I have bacterial overgrowth & lactose intolerance on top of that)
I have already made several of your recipes but drinking just water was getting a bit boring so I’m excited to try this too.
Thank you so much for your website!

  23. This looks so awesome! Can’t wait to try it this weekend for a family gathering! Loving your recipes!

  24. 5 stars
The tea test beautiful!! I’ve never never fought that i can actually use the apple vinegar in a beverage!! thank u so much! I really enjoy my tea time! πŸ˜€

Wow what a great idea! I’ve done a lot of detoxing but I have yet to try the detox lemonade. Thanks for the great recipe πŸ™‚
