Sleep.

It’s one of those things that hits us hard when we don’t get enough. It makes us feel awful when we don’t get enough quality sleep and it’s not really something that we’re brought up understanding as kids. When I was growing up, all I was taught was to go to bed and wake up at a decent hour, but now that I understand the body more and more throughout my healing process, I’ve come to realize that the time we wake up and the time we go to sleep makes ALL the difference in the world. It’s something called our circadian rhythm. Getting to bed no later than 10:30 PM (10 PM is ideal) and waking up no later than 6:30 AM (6 AM is ideal). So, what does this mean? Well, if we go to bed after the above time or wake up after the above time, we aren’t getting in the full sleep cycle we need. In order to get the full rejuvenating, healing and detoxing benefits of sleep that our body performs at night, we have to follow these times. It’s tough to do, I know. I was on a schedule for awhile but slipped off when my hormones acted up and made me feel energized at night and exhausted in the morning. So, what are we supposed to do when our bodies are out of whack and we can’t get into bed on time or get out of bed on time?

Enter Melatonin.

The supplement I was brought up on and used for over a decade to help me get enough sleep. My parents both use Melatonin regularly and they gave it to my sister and I when we had trouble sleeping so it became part of my routine to use Melatonin anytime I couldn’t fall asleep.

Because I don’t take pharmaceutical drugs because of all the negative side effects and Leaky Gut issues that they cause, I always opt for the natural way to help my body get back into its natural cycles. For sleep, that’s choosing Melatonin.

Do you find yourself losing sleep over your inability to sleep? Does that sound like you? It sure sounded like me a few years ago when I was stressed out with work and school and my health and couldn’t get the sleep my body needed.

For 83.6 million American adults who aren’t getting enough sleep, the realities of daily exhaustion and stress are too real. Sleep is key to feel and look well-rested but it can also actually have a profound impact on our overall health, affecting our immunity, our mental sharpness and even weight management. So, why is it so hard for many of us to not get enough shut eye each night?

Because we’re stressed as a culture. We’re stressed out, over-worked, our emails are flooding in, our kids need to get to soccer, our inlaws are complaining, our family is demanding, our siblings need our support, our friends need favors, etc. This is the life we live. We’re stressed and the majority of us don’t know what to do about it or how to handle it, so they take a pharmaceutical drug to get them to fall asleep. As they say in the movie, Pretty Woman: “Big mistake. HUGE.”

It’s time to look for a more natural way to get your body into the rest and relaxation mode with deep breathing, breathwork, meditation and 100% drug-free nighttime sleep aids that assist with occasional sleeplessness such as Natrol Melatonin, which is the #1 melatonin brand in America. It helps you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer and wake up feeling refreshed.† With varieties such as Gummies, fast dissolve, time release and tablets, Natrol has a different formula for whatever you need. This little supplement helps to establish normal sleep patterns to give you a more restful, relaxing sleep and in turn, better overall health because you know how much better your body works when you get the rest you need! Natrol’s unique fast dissolve form enables faster absorption and can be taken anytime, anywhere. No water needed.† How convenient is that? Especially for those of us who travel quite often and need to take something to help us get to sleep in hotel rooms or in an airplane. No water needed makes everything SO much easier. I know you feel me on this!

While we’re on the topic of rest and relaxation, I wanted to give you a nighttime beverage that you can enjoy before you go to bed to help you sleep soundly. It takes less than 5 minutes to make on your stove top, so you don’t have to worry about stressing out at the end of the day to get a nourishing sip of relaxation.

And p.s. Natrol has a campaign going this month to raise awareness about our nation’s lack of sleep. They are asking people to post photos of their friends or family members #CaughtDozing. If you post a photo to their Facebook page (or on Twitter) and hashtag #CaughtDozing you will receive a coupon for #NatrolMelatonin and be entered in their weekly drawing for awesome sleep swag!

Enjoy!
