Enzymes

Enzymes are a critical element to good health and we all need them to stay healthy! I honestly had NO idea what an enzyme was until a few years ago when my Integrative M.D. recommended I start taking them before everything I eat to help my body break down food. It’s amazing how so many of us have no clue what an enzyme is and they’re such an essential part of our digestive process. Without enzymes, our bodies simply would not function. Crazy, isn’t it?

Digestive enzymes ensure that food is digested completely and does not add to the toxic load in your body. Properly digested food provides energy, nourishment and regeneration while improperly digested food is a burden to the body.

There are THREE basic types of Enzymes. They are outlined below.

Digestive Enzymes. These digest our food!

Raw Food Enzymes. These start the process of digestion!

Metabolic Enzymes. These run our entire body!

These little enzymes speed things up and lend a helping had to our digestive process. They’re catalysts because they cause one substance in our body to produce another. Our bodies are so complex and we need to make numerous substances from one substance to fill our body’s daily needs. This is what enzymes do!

When we eat, the process of digestion starts with chewing; this makes our food mix with our enzymes that come from the glands in our mouth called salivary glands. When we swallow our food, it continues the breakdown process in your stomach with more enzymes and stomach ACID. Then, the food passes into the intestines where carbs, fats and proteins are all processed with special enzymes and made into substances our bodies can use. Kinda cool, isn’t it? Each of these enzyme systems need raw material to properly function and it’s essential for all the systems of our bodies INCLUDING our DETOXIFICATION systems.

Many of us are deficient in enzymes since most Americans don’t eat enough raw foods. When foods are cooked above 118 degrees F or any processed food is deficient in enzymes- this strains our bodies to continue the process.

Our pancreas produces digestive enzymes but require food enzymes to function perfectly! So, if there is a shortage of raw food, there is an additional stress put onto this digestive gland, which in turn reduces the health of our entire system.

As we’ve discussed before, our LIVER is a major organ for DETOXING and it contains numerous enzymes that are dependent upon this digestive system working properly.

So, if you want to make sure you are getting enough enzymes, be sure to eat more raw foods and ask your Integrative M.D. about taking a Digestive Enzyme with your food. I do both for an extra boost of enzymes!

Many of my doctors have their clients on enzymes because they alleviate a handful of stomach issues that SO many people think they need drugs to cure. But with the help of enzymes, people can see drastic improvements in their health and their digestion- as well as their sleep and skin!

I take Digest GOLD Enzymes because all of my doctors recommended them and I’ve had great results with them for years. My clients love them too!

It is essential to work with an Integrative M.D. because I am sharing general information that is not intended to be medical advice. This information is only given for informational purposes.
