digestive-enzyme-support

I’ve spoken about enzymes quite a bit in the past but I know many of you are still wondering “What are enzymes?” And “How can they help my digestive problems?” Taking digestive enzymes have helped me tremendously with digesting my food and helping me absorb the nutrients in what I’m eating. I have a lot of detailed information about Enzymes on my ENZYMES page.

So, today I’m going to give you a quick overview on what these fabulous little supplements can do for your health and well-being.

Enzymes can be found in every cell of living organisms, including us humans! They’re catalysts for biochemical reactions such as our metabolism and breathing; think of them as helping you digest your food so that it can be better absorbed and assimilated throughout your body and used efficiently. When we eat, if our food doesn’t contain digestive enzymes, our bodies use our enzymes to break down the food and we don’t have an unlimited supply of these babies! So, we can eat kale all day long and nuts n’ seeds and the best food possible all day long, but if we’re not absorbing these foods and we can’t make use of their nutrients, we’re missing out on their health benefits. This is where illness and viruses and autoimmune diseases and other health issues start to come into play such as nutrient deficiencies. I had this happen to me in my 20’s. I was eating great but wasn’t absorbing a darn thing!

Enzymes are found in raw foods and today what you see in the food store in packages and boxes or in restaurants that’s fried or microwaved or fried or roasted doesn’t have the enzymes you’d find in eating raw foods. So, the best thing to do is to pair raw foods with your cooked foods.

You can take digestive enzymes, in pill form, before and after your meals, to help you break down and assimilate your nutrients and what you need to keep your body vibrant, energized and healthy!

When looking for enzymes, don’t buy the cheap ones! They’re made of fillers and soy and junk. Look for no sugar, gelatin, salt, wheat, gluten, eggs, shellfish, preservatives, soy and milk’.

You want ALL of the following enzymes to be in the product you purchase:

  • Phytaste breaks down phytic acid
  • Amylase breaks down carbs
  • Lipase breaks down fats
  • Protease breaks down proteins

Do you take digestive enzymes with your meals?
