A ‘Crabby’ Holiday Idea: Easy Crab Soup

Growing up on the shore I’m used to seeing these crabby babies in the summer time.

But with a little help from my buddies at Whole Foods Market- they made my dream come true in December.

O yes.

I’m talkin’ about a crab party for the holidays.

Why not right?

It’s a luxury.

And I’m all about feeling worthy of luxury lately. It’s part of my quest to ‘Self Love’ and feeling worthy of treating myself to the little things that make me smile in life.

When we feel we are valuable, we surround ourselves with luxury. Comforts and pleasures beyond those needed for everyday living. Luxury is not a materialism; it doesn’t have to be a new car or a shinny ring. It can simply be a holiday candle, a piece of good chocolate, listening to good music. These luxuries cost little but mean so much.

Do you feel worthy of such luxury? Luxury is our natural state and as I take the time to work on ‘Self Love’ it’s important to remember every one of us should feel special.

You deserve all the good the world has to offer. By elevating your view of yourself, you elevate the quality of your life.  Your outer world will echo your thoughts, beliefs and intentions that you are a special being- and worthy of abundance.

Practice living luxury today. Take some time to do something for yourself that you consider luxurious.

Take a walk or a bubble bath. Loose yourself in a good book or meet a friend for a tea. Cook up this warm crab soup.

Make this a habit; the more you welcome small luxuries into your life, the more you will recognize yourself as a worthy spiritual being worthy of love and abundance.

Today, treat yourself to a luxury.

My luxury today is crab soup and boy o’ boy is it good. A little bit expensive- but I’m worth it.

Easy Crab Soup
Recipe type: Entree

Serves: 6
Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free
  • 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 10 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 2 Tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 large carrots, julienne
  • ¼ cup finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • ½ lbs. lump crab meat
  • ¼ tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • ¼ tsp. sea salt
  • ¼ tsp. freshly ground pepper
  • 2 tsp. slivered almonds
  • ¼ tsp. fresh lemon zest
  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, add tomatoes; cook for 2 minutes. Add remaining ingredients; cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat.
  2. Transfer to serving bowls.
  3. Serve warm.

This was the first year in my life that I tried crab and it was love at first bite!
Plain and simple, steamed, raw and melt in your mouth perfect!

I was told to check out this site by a couple of amazing ladies in Austin, and so happy I did! This recipe looks wonderful for one and the photography is awesome! One thing I miss about growing up in Florida was constant access to fresh crab. I will have to get some soon! By the way, I think I have that very same blue/white bowl the crab is in? Mine has a picture of a log cabin during maple syrup season. I love it! Except mine has a small chip :( Anywho, have a wonderful day!

Just found your site thanks to the Whole Foods fanpage! Love it!! I never ate seafood until my first try just a few weeks ago and I liked the crab over lobster! I may be brave enough to give it a try!!

Just made this – wowza! It’s delicious. The red pepper and lime totally make the dish. I substituted chicken broth for the veggie broth, and it worked beautifully. I’ll be proud to serve this as a tasty Christmas Eve appetizer – it feels fancy and luxurious, and was super easy to make. Thanks so much!
