Welcome to the beach.

Welcome to my home (away from home).

Welcome to the pretty lil’ beach town in New Jersey where I grew up.

Welcome to my summer weekends.

Just a quick hop skip n’ jump from Manhattan- this is where I reside from Friday- Monday every weekend in the summer.

And it’s pretty heavenly.

And fun.

And relaxing.

No yellow cabs here.

Just a whole lotta bikes, surfboards and skateboards.

That’s how we get around town.

We’re all about lots of porch- sittin’, lots of bike ridin’, lots of jumping in the ocean to cool off.

Lot’s of hangin’ around Ocean Avenue at the beach.

And that’s just what I did yesterday to show you how I spend my summer weekends.

So here’s a lil’ sneak peak (brought to you by my camera phone via my bike).

Wanna come visit?

I’ve gotta beach badge with your name on it.

And a comfy seat at The Parker House (our town’s restaurant).

The grill is hot n’ ready for a BBQ.

And the beach is straight ahead…

See it?

Town is sittin’ pretty.

The Bed & Breakfast has a vacant room.

The lake is calm enough for kayaking.

And the farmer’s market is stocked with juicy, Jersey tomatoes.

Just bring your beach towel and I’ll supply the umbrella and fresh lemonade.

Come on ovaaaa.

xo

    1. Thanks Kath; great seeing you this weekend at BlogHer Food! You look fabulous and I can’t wait to hear about your baby boy. Enjoy your summer; ooxx!

  1. I’ll be heading to the Jersey shore in about a month! Vacationed up there for the first time last year and it was awesome! Cannot wait to go back….but if you need someone to “house-sit” while you are away I’m sure I could work it out! You had me at lemonade!

  2. So fabulous to meet you this evening! Summer nights back east are all about skinny dipping, lobsters, G & Ts, and epic adventures. Looking forward to tomorrow!

    1. Thanks Lori; I love MA…one of my favorite states and 3 weeks there sounds heavenly! Excited to see you on Thursday. Safe Travels!

  3. Amie, is the yoga dvd “yogalosophy” decent for a beginner? I’m a newbie to exercise itself.

  4. Seriously, when are you taking guests? I see lemonade, beach, porch sittin’, AND a whole lotta fun farmers market cooking 🙂

  5. How fun to see a weekend away from the big city. We used to live north of NYC and loved sweeping down into the city on weekends! You live in quintessential Americana!

    1. Thank you Sarah; so great to hear from you darling! Hope you are having a fabulous summer. Enjoy your night! xox

IT WAS WONDERFUL SO I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU MUST ENJOY THE BEACH YOUR PICTURES ARE WONDERFUL THANK YOU FOR SHARING. I HOPE THE SUMMER IS WONDERFUL FOR YOU. ENJOY!

  7. Thank you for a glimpse back to my favorite times. I’m a Jersey girl now living in Wisconsin. Up until 2 years ago, the shore (the quiet, undiscovered by mtv part) was always my weekend destination. There is something SO comforting about the ocean, the taste of salt in the air, the baskets on bikes, the ring of the ice cream truck….aaahh. I can’t wait to get back there this summer. Hope you enjoy your weekends! =)

  8. This is a true old fashioned summer dream!

I have no complaints about living in Northern California – yes we get sunshine in January, but we don’t have your New England summertime joy. Often our summer months are foggy and cool.

But your photos gave me a great little getaway:) Thanks!

  9. I wish I could come! Looks amazing. Do you prefer the city or the quiet? I hope you get your weekends off this summer to enjoy!

    1. Thanks Jen; hoping to relax in July/August as I’m off to Portland and Seattle for 2 weeks of conference speaking and media work but I’m excited!
