Justin’s Nut Butter Giveaway and Vegan Chocolate Mousse

by Amie on August 10, 2010

Let’s just say I’m over-the-top about my buddy Justin and his fabulous nut butters…I recently had the pleasure to meet Justin (twice, hehe) last month and tasted all of his incredible nut butters… Not only is Justin an amazing guy and a REAL Person, but his nut butters are out-of-this world.  Seriously, have you ever tried Chocolate Hazelnut Butter? Honey Almond Butter? Maple Almond Butter? Honey Peanut Butter? I didn’t think so…

Sick and tired of your regular ol’ peanut butter and jelly sammie, well go ahead and take my word for it, you can jazz up your sandwich, wraps, crackers, veggies, fruits, ice cream, anything with Justin’s Nut Butters…and the best part? These tasty creations are sold in handy dandy to-go squeezable and portable packets for easy traveling and munching on-the-go.

So, I decided to whip up a tasty dessert last night and use some of my Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter…yummm….how about a little Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse to take the heat off this summer?   I hope you enjoy my newest indulgence…it’s guilt-free and exceptionally tasty…

Vegan Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado, pitted and peeled
  • 4 Tbsp. Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/3 cup agave nectar
  • 1/3 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 4 fresh basil leaves
  • Toppings: Lime Zest and Ground Flax Seeds

Directions

  1. In a food processor or blender, combine all ingredients; process until it forms a creamy consistency.
  2. Scoop into serving bowls and garnish with ground flax seeds and lime zest.
  3. Enjoy!

I created this delicious mousse last night…enjoyed a cup (or two, hehe) and then stored the remainder in my freezer for a frozen treat anytime!

And now…for my Justin’s Nut Butter Giveaway

I would love to try the hazelnut butter. I love hazelnuts, but have never tried them in nut butter form.

I have an individual packet of the chocolate hazelnut butter that I haven’t tried out yet. I also want to try the maple almond.

I would have to go with the honey peanut, though the chocolate hazelnut is a close second. I’ve never tried this brand!

I”m wondering what Palm fruit oil is and why its needed in almond butter or peanut butter.
Wouldn’t you be better off with the nut butters that are purely nut? What are your thoughts on this as a nutrionist? Some of the oils added are so confusing….
Thank you!
PS. If anyone has a Wegmans close by-they just started carrying Justins…

Rooney,

Thank you so very much for your comment; great to hear from you. This Organic Palm Fruit Oil is an unrefined extra virgin oil that is both chemical and solvent-free. Organic Palm Fruit Oil is commonly used in healthy cooking and baking. I find no harm in using Organic Palm Fruit Oil as it’s extracted simply from the pulp of the fruit of the oil palm and is cholesterol free, trans fat free, odorless, tasteless as well as provides our bodies with some basic daily energy needs. Moreover, Organic Palm Fruit Oil increases “Good” HDL compared to other saturated oils (such as coconut oil) to promote a healthy cardiovascular system. Hope this helps; thank you again for your comment and have a wonderful day! Best, Amie

It was so fun meeting you at the Step Up event last night! Kate and I chatted the whole way home about what a small world it is, and crazy coincidence to have met you randomly! As promised, I’m entering your nut butter giveaway :) I would like to try the chocolate peanut or honey peanut, since I’m allergic to both almonds and hazelnuts so those are out! Hopefully we can grab cocktails sometime soon!
